And that finish line seemed to fade even further away.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it brought\u00a0Chyna so much pride this spring\u00a0to call herself a student again: a college student.<\/p>\n<p>Chyna\u2019s journey back to education started when she saw an ad for Climb at the local Department of Family Services office. Climb was offering a brand-new GED prep and testing program. Climb developed the training when Cheyenne\u2019s Wyoming Family Literacy Program closed, shutting down a critical resource for people looking to earn a GED.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cI just accepted the fact that I wasn\u2019t going to do much with my life, that I wasn\u2019t going to finish school like my mom even though I had potential.\u201d<\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p>At Climb, Chyna admits there were times when it was hard. \u201cI got down on myself, saying, \u2018Why would I do this, I should just give up,\u2019 but the team was so supportive and could see when I was losing faith and would pull me up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember getting my GED test results and thinking, \u2018Oh my gosh! I passed on the first try! I\u2019m smarter than I thought I was.\u2019 It was such a relief. I was so proud of myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once Chyna passed her test, Climb staff helped guide her to her next goal: college. \u201cThey went with me to look at Laramie County Community College (LCCC) in Cheyenne,\u201d Chyna says of Climb\u2019s support. \u201cThey helped make sure my paperwork was filed correctly. It was great. Otherwise I would have been trying to figure it out on my own.
